Tomorrow, America marks 250 years since the Declaration of Independence.
That is no small thing. A nation built on an idea, still becoming its fullest expression. And maybe that is what makes freedom so powerful.
Freedom is not one thing.
It is the right to speak and the courage to listen.
It is independence and interdependence.
It is a choice and a responsibility.
It is the ability to dream, to build, to disagree, and to begin again.
It is the space to become who we are, and the shared commitment to help others do the same.
That is what I love most about freedom.
It is not frozen in history.
It grows.
With every generation.
With every community.
With every person who expands what is possible for someone else.
